CES 2015: Check Out the All New LG G Flex 2, the Gorgeous, Self-Healing Curved Phone

Check Out the All New LG G Flex 2, the Gorgeous, Self-Healing Curved Phone

Korean electronics giant LG maintained a large presence at CES 2015. While their TVs and home appliances were heavily showcased, my interest was primarily on one device—the new LG G Flex 2 Android phone.

The successor to the original G Flex and next-in-line after the LG G3, the G Flex 2 sports impressive specs, including a Snapdragon 810 processor, either 2GB RAM (on the 16GB model) or 3GB of RAM (on the 32GB model), expandable storage with microSD card support, a massive 3000mAh battery (with fast charging), and 13-megapixel rear camera with optical image stabilization. All of this comes packaged in a lightweight frame sporting a 5.5-inch OLED display.

But the appeal of this device is definitely its curved body, and LG really knocked it out of the park this time. The G Flex 2 is incredibly comfortable to hold, and surprisingly, feels great in front pants pockets. With bent phones making news in 2014, it's nice to know that this device is actually designed to buck trends.

Suffice it to say, I was smitten with the design and specs of the device, but as someone who generally goes "case-less" with their phones, I was really impressed with the "self-healing" back on the G Flex 2.

The original G Flex also had this technology, but the newly improved self-healing polymer allows for scratches to disappear in seconds, rather than minutes.

So far, AT&T, Sprint, and U.S. Cellular have confirmed the device for their services, while Vodaphone will have a 6-week exclusive for sales of the device in the UK. Pricing is still unknown at this time, but I'd guess it to be about the same as the LG G3 at launch.
