Data Breach: Spotify Users Need to Update Their Android App Right Now

Spotify Users Need to Update Their Android App Right Now

Adobe, eBay, and iCloud have been hacked...now add Spotify to that list. The company has stated that on May 27th, they became aware of "some unauthorized access to [their] systems and internal company data" but that "only one Spotify user's data has been accessed and this did not include any password, financial or payment information."

In an overtly pro active move, Spotify is urging Android users to download a wholly new app from the Amazon App Store and Google Play, and uninstall the old one immediately.

(1) Old "Spotify" app. (2) New "Spotify Music" app.

Once you download and install the new app, you'll be prompted to uninstall the old one.

Note that offline playlists will have to be re-downloaded in the new app, and while it's a pain, it's a small inconvenience to ensure our data is safe.
