Here's When Your Samsung Galaxy Is Getting Android 6.0 Marshmallow

It looks like a lot of Samsung's Galaxy series of smartphones and tablets will be upgraded to Android Marshmallow 6.0 by the start of this summer.

Phone Arena has obtained a release schedule for Samsung's flagships, dated February 29th, which shows that Marshmallow is already rolling out for Galaxy S6 and S6 edge, with the S6 edge+ and Galaxy Note 5 following close behind.

If this image is the real deal, Samsung's older handsets and tablets should be getting the upgrade to Marshmallow as well. In the U.S., you'll also have to wait and see if your carrier pushes the update through, and, well... good luck with that if you've got an "older" model like the Galaxy S5 and a carrier like AT&T.

Here's the whole rundown of devices and planned upgrade dates:

  • Galaxy S6: March 2016
  • Galaxy S6 edge: March 2016
  • Galaxy S6 edge+: March 2016
  • Galaxy Note 5: March 2016
  • Galaxy Note 4: April 2016
  • Galaxy Note 4 edge: April 2016
  • Galaxy S5: May 2016
  • Galaxy Tab S2 8": May 2016
  • Galaxy Tab S2 9.7": May 2016
  • Galaxy Alpha: June 2016

The list also shows that mid-tier Samsung handsets—specifically the Galaxy A7, with the A5 likely—will receive the upgrade to 6.0 some time this summer.

We'll see if it happens. My Note5 just went crazy and now behaves after 2 factory resets. I've been on Android for 6 years, but it was pretty bad when there wasn't a good resource to go to for troubleshooting. VZW support was nice, but useless and no Genius Bar for sure.
